Weather closes Placer County offices in Tahoe for second day

Sun staff reports

All non-essential Placer County government offices in the Lake Tahoe and Truckee area will be closed on today for a second straight day due to inclement weather. Significant snowfall totals over the past few days and high winds have caused multiple road closures and travel restrictions over the entire Sierra. The National Weather Service has forecast a snow advisory forecast through Wednesday.

County public safety and snow-removal operations will be working; however most other Placer County offices in the Sierra Nevada will remain closed for the day. Those persons who have business with Placer County Tahoe and Truckee offices are advised to call ahead before traveling. Those who must travel are reminded to be prepared for snow-covered roads, whiteout conditions and other limited visibilities. Use caution while driving and allow ample time to arrive at destinations.

Please check the Placer County web site http://www.placer.ca.gov for updates.
