What is Yoga? presentation Saturday in Truckee
TRUCKEE, Calif. — Join Women Empowering Women for its final presentation this summer, “What is Yoga?”, with Deborah Scarborough and Barbara Ricotta. This experiential talk will answer this question by presenting an overview of the history and philosophy of yoga.
Participants will be guided through various yogic practices for experiencing wellness in everyday life.
“What is Yoga?” will take place from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Sept. 12 at For Goodness Sake, 10157 Donner Pass Road, Truckee.
Barbara Ricotta, RN, MA, L.Ac., has been a practitioner and teacher in the healing arts for more than 25 years. She is a practitioner of Five Element Acupuncture, Craniosacral Therapy and Therapeutic Yoga.
Her mission is to promote self-healing, greater freedom and awareness of body, mind and spirit through Yoga, compassionate touch and Holistic Medicine.
She completed her Acupuncture studies at the Academy for Five Element Acupuncture and received a Master of Arts in Holistic Health Education from John F. Kennedy University.
Barbara also has many years experience in both conventional and holistic nursing and has both a Diploma in Nursing and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
Deborah Scarborough first started practicing yoga in 1998 when she started experiencing a lot of stress from a new career as a school teacher and was suffering from chronic pain from various injures.
Deborah studied with Gary Kraftsow for four years and received her teacher certification and her Therapist certification in the Viniyoga method and opened her own Yoga studio in Lanai, Hawaii.
What she likes best as a certified Yoga Therapist is empowering individuals facing various health issues to reduce symptoms, manage their condition, restore balance, increase vitality and improve their attitude as they embark on their journey to becoming well.
