Wright chosen to head city managers in League

Truckee Town Manager Steve Wright was elected Sept. 18 as the president of the City Managers Department of the League of California Cities Sacramento Division.

“Our division of the league represents 51 cities ranging from Galt and Jackson on the south to the Oregon border and from Davis and Winters on the west to the Nevada state line,” Wright wrote in his report to council. “The City Manager’s Department focus is on personal professional development for the good of our respective agencies and on providing advice and assistance to both the Sacramento division and the entire statewide League organization.”

Wright said his responsibilities will include representing the division at quarterly statewide meetings, coordinating the three city manager subgroups in the division, and working with League staff and the division president on matters affecting the Sacramento division.

“I have always found that active involvement with the League has been rewarding for the town,” Wright wrote. “Regular interaction with other professionals helps me to not ‘reinvent the wheel’ and bring ideas back for our own use. Hopefully, my involvement at this higher statewide level will also prove to be of equal or even greater benefit.”
