Zabell appointed to Planning Commission

ABHUTCHISON, Sierra Sun

At last night’s Town of Truckee Planning Commission meeting, Don McCormack was expected to announce local businessman Fred Zabell as his appointee to take over for Commissioner Arne Werchick, who announced his resignation from the commission in November.

Zabell, who owns Alpine Mounting Systems on West River Street, is an outdoor recreation enthusiast and longtime Truckee resident.

“As the community is well aware, we are facing a significant number of development projects,” McCormack said. “In making my appointment, I wanted to have someone who has shown a dedication to preserving Truckee’s charm and beauty. I am sure Fred will face his decisions with that perspective.”

McCormack said he appreciated all of Werchick’s hard work on the commission. Werchick resigned from the commission after two years because he will be spending his winters in warmer climes.
