2011 Big Blue Summer MusicFest: Toccata to present Baroque Masters

TAHOE/TRUCKEE and#8212; The Tahoe Symphony Orchestra and Chorus (Toccata) will continue their 21-concert 2011 Big Blue Summer MusicFest with a series which celebrates the Baroque Masters. The program opens with two concertos of G.P. Telemann, Viola Concerto in G major, performed by Josh Warren and Trumpet Concerto in D major, performed by Mark Lord. David Brock will perform Händeland#8217;s Concerto for Organ and strings, Op. 4 #4. Guest artist from Poland, Bartlomiej Helwing, will perform Vivaldiand#8217;s Concerto for Guitar in D major. Rounding out the program will be J.S. Bachand#8217;s masterpiece Cantata #140, and#8220;Wachet Auf,and#8221; featuring the Toccata Chorus and soloists Anna Helwing and Joy Strotz, soprano; Stuart Duke, baritone; Chris Nelson, tenor and Virginia Bowman, violin and Toccataand#8217;s Concertmaster. Maestro James Rawie, Toccataand#8217;s founder, will conduct all performances.

Sunday, Aug. 14, 3 p.m., St. Theresa Catholic Church in South Lake Tahoe

Tuesday, Aug. 16, 7:30 p.m., St. Thomas Aquinas Cathedral, Reno, Nev.

Sunday, Aug. 21, 4 p.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church, Reno, Nev.

Tickets are $25 adults, $20 seniors, (62 and up), and $5 students. Preferred seating is $35. Children under 12 enter free with a paying adult. Tickets can be purchased in advance by credit card at http://www.ToccataTahoe.com or at the door by cash or check. Doors open 30 minutes prior to the concert.
