A matching gift program for North Tahoe Arts doubles donations
TAHOE CITY and#8212; North Tahoe Arts in Tahoe City received a gift from an anonymous friend. Make a donation by Dec. 31 and itand#8217;s matched. The contact was made through another party: The personand#8217;s identity remains a mystery. Did they have a mother who attended the Senior Art classes or perhaps a nephew who worked with an artist on a project during a free Kids Art Saturday? Maybe they visit artists in their studios during Tahoe ARTour in July each year. Many visitors come in looking for local art to take home to remember their visit; and folks moving to the area love to furnish their homes here with local art.
Is this generous donor one of the generous souls who live here or one who may not live here full time, but has the means to show their appreciation for the resource they found in the community? Although North Tahoe Arts has been around for 21 years, it continues to reach out and evolve and change to meet the needs of the community. The last two years have tapped much of their savings. This matching gift program will help continue efforts and look for ways to enrich and educate. The beauty people see as they recreate here begs for an artistic outlet. Many moved here for recreation and so the children may participate in these activities.
North Tahoe Arts is here to help develop the artistic, creative side of the brain, an appreciation for art and a chance to interact with it using its many expressions. Itand#8217;s a great opportunity for us and for all who want to support the arts. Please mail your donations to North Tahoe Arts, P.O. Box 6354, Tahoe City 96145, e-mail Karen@northtahoearts.com or call 530-581-2787.

I just read Tom McClintock’s piece about inflation, and I can’t imagine he lives in the same world as I do. In his mind, sustainable (“green”) energy that offsets climate change is “bad policy.” He…
