The Baehrs even added a few old classics like Turkey a la Stony to the menu. This food is way more my style of food, Doug Baehr, who is also the head chef, said of the new Stony Ridge. Baehr noted that the menu also includes samosas, sate skewers with peanut sauce, falafel, salads, soups and Mexican and Mediterranean food. In addition to the regular menu times, there will also be specials available daily. He also uses organic ingredients when possible and everything is made fresh daily. All food comes in biodegradable packaging, which is a boon to Tahoes environment. The chocolate cake is the best. Its the best cake in town, said Rhonda Kreidler, a Tahoma resident who dined recently at The Stony Ridge Uncommon Kitchen with her husband and daughter. I cant imagine eating lunch anywhere else. Were ecstatic hes open and back behind the stove again. Its the best lunch on the West Shore.Customers can call The Stony Ridge Uncommon Kitchen to place their order so they dont have to wait since parking is limited, Baehr said. He is also hoping to get the daily specials on the Web site and he plans on starting cooking classes in the fall. Dawn Baehr helps with the prepping of the food and organizes the business side of things, but three other employees also help out. The Baehrs said they closed Stony Ridge Caf to spend more time with their three young children, and Doug Baehr hopes this new business will let them do just that. Were trying to keep up with the new menu, Baehr said. Right now its time consuming because were working out the kinks This is something better that suited our family.Baehr, who graduated from the Culinary Institute of America in 1989 and worked at Wolfdales in Tahoe City before opening Stony Ridge Caf, said he missed cooking for others when he and his wife took a break between the businesses.I enjoy seeing smiling faces and repeat customers, Baehr said.
