All-Women Sport Camp to benefit Women For Women International

Courtesy Bronco MalacLadies are lined up and ready for their Stand-Up Paddle lesson during a Lake Tahoe All Wmoen's Sports Camp, that includes one, two or three days of clinics and instruction. Lessons and clinics from the biggest names in cycling, running, and paddleboarding with proceeds to benefit women in war-torn countries.

TAHOE/TRUCKEE and#8212; Lake Tahoeand#8217;s All-Women Sport Camp is set to host three days of multiple-sport activities including cross-country mountain biking, downhill mountain biking, road cycling, triathlon and running for active women of all levels, primarily beginner to high intermediate. Led by world-class professional women athletes and top industry instructors, ladies may choose from more than 22 informational and skills clinics, group bike rides and group runs that will access a variety of Lake Tahoeand#8217;s beautiful paths and trail system. Other activities include yoga, rock climbing and stand-up paddle boarding on Lake Tahoe.

and#8220;Our camp is a full-blown active weekend of sports education and outdoor fitness where women can show up in the comfort of their favorite sport, or use this as an opportunity to learn a new sport,and#8221; said Event Director Inger Norman. and#8220;Last year we had a triathlete show up and join the beginner mountain bike clinic. Now sheand#8217;s doing off-road triathlons. We also had a runner who gained enough confidence at camp last year to sign up and train for her first triathlon. And it makes sense because thereand#8217;s so much information and skills that cross over.and#8221;

Having worked in the sports/event marketing industry for more than 13 years, Norman specializes in womenand#8217;s experiential marketing and knows first hand the and#8220;all-womenand#8221; theme is no where near its tipping point. and#8220;Women have a way of communicating in a compassionate manner, creating a non-intimidating environment. Itand#8217;s a safe place to ask those questions where one may otherwise feel a bit embarrassed or discouraged. Our All-Womenand#8217;s Sport Camp is the place to build confidence and weand#8217;re really excited to bring all of this together for a great weekend,and#8221; she said.

The camp will run Aug. 10-12, hosted at Northstar California and led by an impressive roster of women athletes, including Marla Streb, the most recognized woman in mountain biking; Jessi Stensland, professional triathlete and movement specialist; and Julie Young, former USA Cycling Team member.

With some of the strongest women names in endurance sports, the camp will also include world-class coaches and instructors that train professional teams and athletes. Camp participants can sign up for one, two or all three days and will have the opportunity to demo bikes from Specialized womenand#8217;s brand and win prizes from sponsors such as Camelbak, Oakley, and Luna Bar.

Proceeds of Lake Tahoeand#8217;s All-Women Sport Camp will benefit Women For Women International and#8212; an organization committed to helping women survivors of war rebuilt their lives.

and#8220;We found this to be a great match for our camp because many of us on staff have traveled internationally and have seen how fortunate we are in this world,and#8221; said Norman. Women of war-torn countries apply and once accepted into the program receive a 12-month education that helps fund a trade or a business so they can break their cycle, gain their independence and regain their confidence.
