and#8216;Concert for Japanand#8217; to feature Akiko and Friends in Truckee April 15

TRUCKEE, Calif. and#8212; The Cottonwood Restaurant will host a and#8220;Concert for Japanand#8221; Friday, April 15. Pianist and singer Akiko (Colleen Akiko Jackson) will be joined by an all-star cast of local musicians including Steven and Terra Kershisnik, Sheldon Felich and Morgan Raithel of Earthrise for a fantastic night of music.

All of these wonderful musicians will offer their talents to support emergency relief efforts in Japan. Akiko worked in community development projects in Haiti during the late and#8217;80s and early and#8217;90s, co-founding a grassroots nonprofit with Americans and Haitians in 1990, and spearheaded a similar benefit at Cottonwood after the Haitian earthquake. All band tips from the night and a special donation from Cottonwood Restaurant will be sent immediately to and#8220;Second Harvest Japanand#8221; to help in the aftermath of the earthquake and tsunami.

and#8220;The human suffering in Japan is beyond imagining,and#8221; Akiko said. and#8220;The world has been coming together to help, and this is something we can do here in Truckee to participate.and#8221;

Cottonwood will offer some Japanese-influenced menu specials in honor of the event and will offer happy hour pricing throughout the evening.

This very special event will commence in the main dining room at 7 p.m. and reservations are recommended, at 530-587-5711.
