Art events abounded in Truckee Friday night

Three major art events were being hosted Friday night in Truckee, offering visitors a sample of where the local art scene is going, and how movement from bears and Emerald Bay images has come a long way in a relatively short time.

Modern Regional Art is a modern artistic response to the region through art and poetry featuring recent work by regional artists Carole Sesko, Anton Standteiner, Eve Werner, Greg Van Loon, Soren Wolff and Sara Zimmerman, plus poetry by Karen Terrey. The exhibit opens with a wine reception from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 7 at Carole Sesko Contemporary Art, 10950 Industrial Way, Building A, Suite 102. Truckee Gallery will hold a reception for Fred Noerdlinger, featured artist for the month of September, on Friday, Sept. 7 from 5 to 7 p.m. The public is invited. The show, entitled “Random Acts of Color,” will feature a selection of Noerdlinger’s evocative abstract watercolors. The Truckee Gallery is a fine art guild located at 10950 Industrial Way, Suite B102, on the corner of Comstock in the Pioneer Center.

Riverside Studios presents “Trapped in Time,” fresh art, free wine and good company, on Friday, Sept. 7 from 4 to 8 p.m. 10374 Donner Pass Road, Truckee.
