TRUCKEE, Calif. andamp;#8212; Acclaimed artists Ron Houck and Mike Bond will demonstrate their talent at Art Obsessions Gallery andamp; Wine Bar Saturday and Sunday, June 16 and 17, 2-6 p.m.Houck will demonstrate impressionistic portrait painting concentrating on facial expression, while Bond will share his approach to composition using his photography as a source of inspiration for painting and palette knife technique landscape painting.Houck is best known for his figurative oil paintings and portraits that capture the mood, emotion and essence of people. Blending traditional and expressive painting techniques, he explores the human condition while keeping a certain amount of ambiguity and mystery to invite the viewer to complete the narrative behind it.andamp;#8220;My goal is to capture the emotions and moments in time that people can easily relate to,andamp;#8221; said Houck. During his demonstration he will work on a regionally focused painting of Pyramid Lake that depicts a Native American woman of the Washoe tribe with a hand-woven basket. Houck will weave a story with his artistry and catch your imagination.Bond, a landscape painter inspired by his travels, has painted a series of contemporary and historical western scenes of California and Nevada.andamp;#8220;When I’m out in the field I search for the scenes that will challenge me and get my juices flowing, the landscapes that have the texture, color, and shadow that provide the complexity that make my work interesting,andamp;#8221; said Bond.He will demonstrate his impressionistic palette knife techniques while painting a scene of the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone National Park for the Father’s Day weekend showcase.andamp;#8220;I think I can get more of the texture I see in the landscapes with a palette knife. I like the buttery oil, thickness of the paint that helps me evoke the texture that I see,andamp;#8221; Bond said. andamp;#8220;My best advice to beginning painters is to andamp;#8216;Jump At It,’ don’t let your art intimidate you, mistakes are made for learning.andamp;#8221;Wine and appetizers will be served to compliment your art experience. Art Obsessions Gallery andamp; Wine Bar is located in Historic Downtown Truckee, 10052 Donner Pass Road.
