Art World: Meet the artists as Tahoe ARTour paints the town
Explore the back streets of the North Lake Tahoe-Truckee art world! Thirty-one artists will open their studios to the public for the 16th annual Tahoe ARTour. This popular event is sponsored by North Tahoe Arts and offers free self-guided tours of art studios throughout the region. This is a chance to meet individual artists and view or buy original art. ARTour will be held two consecutive weekends, Friday through Sunday, July 10-12 and 17-19. The studios will be open to the public from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The open studio tour is a chance to meet individual artists in their working environment, see demonstrations of their techniques and view their recent collections. Original art works are for sale directly from the artist. A wide variety of art mediums are featured, including oil, acrylics, watercolor, ceramics, printmaking, photography, glass, woodworking, textiles and wearable art.
and#8220;This is a community building event and opportunity for visitors to see the extraordinary level of art thatand#8217;s being created in our area, and to meet the people in their studio environment,and#8221; said ARTour Coordinator Carole Sesko. and#8220;You get to see how they make it work, itand#8217;s educational, inspiring and a chance to make new friendships. Besides that, itand#8217;s a lot of fun.
Tahoe ARTour artists are juried into the event to insure the quality of work will be excellent. This year, 24 returning artists will be joined by seven new emerging artists for the two weekend event.
The ARTour features six geographic areas: Tahoe City-West Shore, Kingand#8217;s Beach-North Shore, Incline Village, Nev., Northstar-Truckee, Tahoe Donner and Glenshire.
