DONNER SUMMIT, Calif. – From Feb. 6 through March, Auburn Ski Club will offer $5 cross-country trail passes on Wednesdays. Skiers do not need to be Auburn Ski Club members. Auburn Ski Club operates a 20K groomed cross country trail system at their training center adjacent to Boreal Mt. Resort on Donner Summit. ASC Executive Director Bill Clark said, “Wednesdays are usually quiet days at ASC and the $5 trail pass is our way of introducing more skiers to the ASC trails and programs.”

Long known as a premier cross-country training and competition venue, ASC is also open to the public and recreational ski touring. ASC’s commitment to a high level of nightly grooming provides excellent recreational skiing. The trail system is relatively compact with a variety of loops up to 5K and 7K in length groomed for classic and skating. A popular springtime trail climbs to the top of Boreal Ridge with sweeping views of Donner Summit.

The ASC Training Center is a nonprofit operation dedicated to providing winter sport opportunities to Northern California/Nevada families and youth in all the skiing and snowboarding disciplines. It’s a fairly common sight to see packs of junior cross-country racers, ex-Olympians and recreational skiers enjoying ASC’s trails.

The Training Center and cross-country trails operate Wednesday through Sunday 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Find more information and current trail condition at http://www.auburnskiclub.org or call 530-426-3313.
