TAHOE/TRUCKEE, Calif. and#8212; Dr. Barry Triestman, chiropractor and soft tissue expert, has started training to become certified in Selective Functional Movement Assessment (SFMA). This assessment guides the clinician to the most dysfunctional movement pattern, then breaks down the abnormal patterns to discover problems in compensatory movements: Posture, range of motion, muscle performance, motor control, balance reactions, muscle imbalances and lack of joint mobility and stability. The SFMA takes a look at the whole body using a holistic mindset. This takes into account relationships between body segments and how impairments in one body region may adversely affect function of another body region and gets to the root of the problem. The shoulder affects the hip and the foot affects the low back, the neck affects the hand, etc. The system then directs individualized therapeutic exercise prescriptions and focused manual therapy to correct the root of the problem.

Dr. Triestman also received a full body re-certification at Active Release Techniques Masters Course in San Jose, Calf. on Feb. 19, 2012.

and#8220;This re-certification allows me to treat a wide range of muscular, tendon, and nerve injuries. It also speeds up the healing process and helps to provide better treatment outcomes for my patients,and#8221; said Dr. Triestman.
