Be successful with a business plan

If you don’t have a business plan, Sierra College Tahoe Truckee has got a plan for you.

Who should attend? Anyone who currently owns a business and does not have a current business plan. Or anyone who does not own a business but has completed the SBDC 3 – part orientation series and has a business idea. Sign up in advance with the Small Business Development Center at (916) 781-6235.

Statistics show 90 percent of businesses with a current business plan realize its goals. Statistics also show 85 percent of the businesses that fail do not have a business plan.

Meet with an assigned SBDC counselor for one-on-one confidential small business plan counseling. Then, meet with the same counselor every two weeks for four, 1.5 hour sessions during the seven-week program.

After each counseling session you are given a homework assignment that is due in one week. This continues for four sessions culminating in a completed business plan. Registrants must purchase The Successful Business Plan, 4th ed. by Rhonda Abrams and bring all four counseling sessions. Registrants may purchase the book from the SBDC for $20 each or at a bookstore for $29.95.

The counselor reviews your homework assignment during your off week. This allows the counselor to review your assignment and provide you with valuable feedback for your next session the following week.

Session dates begin July 1 and Aug. 28, 2009 at Sierra College Truckee 11001 College Trail. For more information about Sierra College visit
