TRUCKEE, Cailf. andamp;#8212; Itandamp;#8217;s that time again. On Feb. 1, the Truckee Donner Recreation andamp; Park District invites you to follow through on those fitness resolutions and join the second annual andamp;#8220;Truckeeandamp;#8217;s Biggest Winnerandamp;#8221; contest. Held on the track, the three-lane indoor running/walking/workout facility at the Community Recreation Center, the andamp;#8220;Truckeeandamp;#8217;s Biggest Winnerandamp;#8221; contest spans the entire month of February and is open to anyone age 14 and older. Like the 2011 version, participants may compete in four main categories: Weight loss (with two official weigh-ins), dedication (counts the number of visits to the gym for the month), most laps (walking), and most laps (running). New for 2012, TDRPD is excited to add a fifth category to the challenge. Thanks to community member Lynn White, all participants may choose to receive a free antioxidant screening. Featured on the Dr. Oz show, Lynnandamp;#8217;s biophotonic scanner measures the skinandamp;#8217;s carotenoid levels and gives a clear picture of oneandamp;#8217;s nutritional status. With a quick, 90-second scan at the beginning of the month and one more at the end, see who can raise their score the highest.Winners from each of the five contest categories will have their choice of four fun prizes. Up for grabs are a summer-long season pass to West End Beach at Donner Lake, a quarter pass to the Truckee community pool, a two-month pass to the track, and a round of golf for two at Ponderosa Golf Course. Those interested in this kick-start to 2012 are encouraged to stop by the Community Recreation Center, 8924 Donner Pass Road, for more information, or simply show up on the track Feb. 1. The contest is free to all TDRPD track and fitness members. A month pass costs $25 for Truckee residents with proof of residence, drop in rates are available. The Community Recreation Center is open Monday-Friday 6 a.m.-8 p.m., Saturdays 8 a.m.-6 p.m. and Sundays 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Call 530-550-4458 for information. For TDRPD info, visit tdrpd.com.
