Bernice Grove, 1921-2010 | Honoring a wonderful woman

TRUCKEE, Calif. – On Sunday, Oct. 21, a wonderful and generous woman was honored with five permanent granite benches and a plaque in her name in the gardens of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church.

Bernice went to Our Lord on Dec. 12, 2010. She was an inspiration and role model for all of us on how to live our lives by Christ’s teaching. She led her life with charity and kindness. She was generous with herself, her home, her caring and her joy of life. And we can’t leave out her legendary cooking! And she was generous with that, as well. She also shared her love of cooking by giving the ladies cooking classes and sharing recipes and knowledge.

She was active in many other activities and gave of herself 100 percent in all that she did.

She had a great love of God that radiated from a beautiful soul. Right up until just a few days before she went to Our Lord, she wanted to get together for lunch With many physical problems, she really never complained, but she wanted to dig right in and help.

With untiring dignity and grace she gave of herself unconditionally. She has taught us, by example, what honoring God is about.

She gave her heart and we miss her.
