TRUCKEE, Calif. and#8212; Local contractor Bill Kelly of Kelly Brothers, Inc. of Truckee volunteered his services to the Blue Star Mothers of America, California, Chapter 12, installing plaques honoring two local fallen heroes.

On May 2, 2012, Blue Star Mothers of Nevada County, friends and relatives of the fallen soldiers gathered at the Veteran’s Hall in Truckee to install the plaques honoring 1st Lt. Nathan Krissoff, who gave his life on Dec. 9, 2006 in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Sgt. Phillip A. Bocks, who perished on Nov. 9, 2007 in support of Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan.

Kelly volunteered his assistance before he really knew for what, exactly, he had volunteered. Chapter president Cindy McVay explained what the group wanted done to honor Krissof and Bocks. Bill was overwhelmed with pride when he realized the plaques were for two local fallen heroes. One of Kelly’s employees, Brady Thayer, asked about the plaques when he saw them in the Kelly Brothers, Inc. office. Thayer had served in the Army and was deployed to Iraq at the same time as these soldiers. Thayer asked if he could assist in the installation, as it would be an honor.

Along with Blue Star Mothers and members of Friends of Nevada County Military attending the installation were Kent and Kay Bocks, Philip’s father and step mother and Fritz and Maria Vetter, Philip’s grandparents. Nathan’s parents, CDR William Krissoff, USN and his wife, Christine, were unable to attend.

A formal dedication ceremony on Nov. 3, 2012 is planned at the Veteran’s Hall in Truckee. Further details will be made available at a later date. Nathan Krissoff was born in Truckee and Philip Bocks graduated from Truckee High School.
