Breast Cancer Awareness Month coming
This year in America a new breast cancer will be diagnosed every three minutes.
Success to early detection is in large part due to education and training on how to do thorough monthly breast self-exams, completing yearly clinical breast exams and scheduling routine mammograms.
Tahoe Forest Hospital will be celebrating Breast Health Month during the week of Oct. 8-11. Incline Village Community Hospital will be celebrating Breast Health Month Oct. 22-25. Each week will start off with a breast health exhibit, appointments for a special breast health package including a mammogram, clinical breast exam, self breast exam training, bone density screen and lipid panel.
The special breast health package is only $100 (this is a $210 value of services). The special Breast Health Package is available to women needing a screening mammogram only.
Those not due for their mammogram in October can pick up a Breast Health Package coupon during Breast Health Week in Truckee or Incline Village. The coupon will be valid for one year in order to keep women on their annual screening schedule.
Special evening educational workshops have been added to the celebration. There will be one at Tahoe Forest Hospital in Truckee Monday, Oct. 15 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. “Cancer Healing One Step At A Time” will be presented by the Truckee-Tahoe Fuji Team. At Incline Village Community Hospital, “Breast Cancer and Surgical Therapies” will be presented by Dr. Orozco on Thursday, Oct. 25 from 6 to 7 p.m.
For more information or to schedule your appointment in Truckee call 582-3483. To schedule your appointment in Incline Village call (775) 832-3810, ext. 101.
