Call for Trails & Vista Artists: Seeking submissions for September 2010 art hike in North Tahoe
Vocalists, choirs, sculptors and other visual and performing artists are invited to submit work samples for Trails and Vistas’ September 2010 art hike that takes place in the Sierra Nevada. Submissions are due by March 31, 2010.Trails and Vistas’ annual art-hike combines thought-provoking and innovative art pieces along a 2.5 mile guided hike in majestic surroundings. Adults and children enjoy the magic of art in nature with quality performances along the hike. “If Dreams were Clouds, the theme of the 2010 hike, offers a playful interpretation of the sky and explores the imagination,” explains Nancy Tieken Lopez, Trails and Vista’s Executive Director and a Truckee-based artist.Submission detailsSubmission deadline is March 31, 2010. Trails and Vistas annual art hike is in its seventh year. Participating artists have included: choreographer and stage artists Alain Gauthier from Cirque du Soleil; dancer Christopher Childers; storyteller Chief Red Hawk; local poet and artist Cathee Van Rossem St. Clair; local artist Nancy Tieken Lopez; and choreographer Elizabeth Archer and dancers from Inner Rhythms.Led by passionate guides, the hike lasts 2.5 hours and is offered 23 times during one weekend in September. Trails and Vistas is a 501(c) (3) organization that combines walking in nature with artistic expression in the majestic Sierra Nevada. The organization’s mission is to create art experiences in nature that inspire awareness and land stewardship. Each of the 23 hiking groups in the annual September art hike is guided by a Trail Leader, and historically, the art hike sells out by mid-August.
