Chase International gives back for the holidays

LAKE TAHOE, Nev. and#8212; Chase International embraced the holiday spirit by giving food, gifts and plenty of sweets to U.S. soldiers and families in need. With eight offices in the Reno-Tahoe area and nearly 185 agents, Chaseand#8217;s contributions brightened the holidays for numerous soldiers, children and seniors.

Army Sergeant Sierra Harbison of Truckee is sharing a bounty of chocolate with her troops in Iraq, thanks to agents from the Tahoe City and Truckee offices. Janet Granum connected Harbison with Chase. Harbison and her comrades received more than 34 pounds of sweets, cocoa, soups, sundries and beef jerky and have dubbed the care package the and#8220;Wonder Box.and#8221;

The Tahoe City office adopted local families through the Family Resource Center and Tahoe Womenand#8217;s Services in Kings Beach. and#8220;Adopting a family is a way to invest in our community,and#8221; Donna Caravelli said. and#8220;Those agencies do an incredible job of serving those who are less fortunate than we are.and#8221;

The South Lake Tahoe Womenand#8217;s Center paired Chaseand#8217;s Zephyr Cove office with a family in need. The office has taken part in the program for more than five years and provided gifts and food for the entire family. Agents from the Incline Village office provided holiday cheer for three seniors via the Parasol Foundationand#8217;s Adopt-a-Senior program. The agents selected three Angel ornaments from the giving tree that had special holiday wishes for each senior which included items ranging from winter coats, snow pants, snow boots and gift cards to favorite stores.

The group also participates in Toys for Tots and donated several turkeys for Thanksgiving and Project MANAand#8217;s and#8220;Letand#8217;s Talk Turkeyand#8221; Thanksgiving distribution, which collected more than 290 pounds of food including 15 turkeys.

A longtime supporter of the Tahoe Rim Trail, Chase International agents sent out holiday cards presenting an opportunity for their clients to support the trail. This season, a group of 50 Chase agents have sponsored a mile of the trail by raising $5,000. They will hike the 165-mile loop in relay fashion in 2010.

Chase International agents are known for contributing to the community throughout the year, taking active roles in CASA, Parasol Foundation, Boys and Girls Clubs, Barton Hospital Foundation, Carson Tahoe Hospital Foundation, Nevada Rock Art Foundation, North Lake Tahoe Advisory Board, Incline Schools Academic Excellence Foundation, Arts for the Schools, Toys for Tots, Soroptimist International, Sierra Club, Pet Network, Lake Tahoe Wildlife Care, Humane Society, Kiwanis Sunrisers, Tahoe Environmental Research Center, The Bear League, Tahoe Forest Health System, Tahoe Forest Cancer Center, Lake Tahoe Music Festival, Truckee Tahoe Community Foundation and the Sierra Chapter of the Red Cross.
