TAHOE/TRUCKEE, Calif. and#8212; Cheri Snook was born and raised in Tahoe. The North Tahoe graduate returned to the Lake with her business, Cherieand#8217;s Hand Dipped Ice Cream, to serve the community gourmet hand-dipped ice cream bars, as she has for 10 years. The business started while living in Alaska and again locally in Nevada City, Calif., her home base for 20 years.

Cheri is also a broadcast producer for KVMR Community Radio in Nevada City. In Tahoe can be heard at 105.1FM. She may have found her voice while working at the Ponderosa Ranch, home of and#8220;Bonanza,and#8221; where she was a tour guide for several years. Cheri was present when they closed the gates.

The hand cart of Tahoeand#8217;s legendary Tahoe Tesse hot dog cart was semi-remodeled by Rexand#8217;s Tahoe Creations, adding a vintage look for Cherieand#8217;s business, a welcome sight regularly at the Gatekeeperand#8217;s Museum in Tahoe City.

The Tahoe Tesse hot dog cart is well remembered by locals. It rolled out in the late 70s in Kings Beach and has traveled to various places, with its last stop the Tahoe City Downtown Association.

Cheri had a vision to transform the cart into a dipping station. She now uses it to freshly dip ice cream bars into chocolate and toppings. Customers return again and again to find the Tahoe specialty ice cream bar. Children jump for joy while parents and friends alike appreciate their Tahoe memory with Cheriand#8217;s Ice Cream.

She began serving to Tahoe at various venues and events, Truckee Amphitheater concerts, the Squaw Valley Northern Lights Store (now owned by Allen Aastrom serving from High Camp in the summer), Concerts at Commons Beach, Truckee Thursdays and the Sugar Pine Point State Park Living History Day.

Last year in her trek with the John Olmsted Family, through death and triumph on the quest to save the 70 California State Parks slated to close, she assisted the parks in selling her ice cream bars to help support Save Our State Parks. She was invited to serve at the Gatekeeperand#8217;s Museum this summer. Your purchase is not only a delicious treat, it helps in part to Save Our State Parks.

Last year, Tahoe alone consumed nearly 15,000 pounds of the ice cream, and 800 pounds of chocolate.

Cherieand#8217;s Ice Cream is freshly made from a creamery in Oregon with a higher butter fat that will hold and freeze with taste and presentation quality.

The chocolate is Guittards fine French dark chocolate. High Sierra white toppings are organic, chocolate cookies are Trader Joeand#8217;s Jo Joand#8217;s! (no hydrogenated oils).

Annual locations are Sundays at the Concerts at Commons Beach, Truckee Thursdays and Living History Day at Sugar Pine Point State Park, July 28.

Also find Cherieand#8217;s at the KMVR Celtic Festival, Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival, the San Francisco Oysterfest, Michael Frantiand#8217;s Power to the Peaceful and the Ridgestock music and sustainability expo.

Cheriand#8217;s Hand Dipped Ice Cream is located in Nevada City and Tahoma at Lake Tahoe. For information email cherisnook@hotmail.com.
