Clearing the Tahoe City trails for Amgen Tour of California Bike Race

TAHOE/TRUCKEE, Calif. andamp;#8212; Following a massive snowfall this winter, the Tahoe City Public Utility District has made an even bigger effort than ever to clear the snow off bike trails to give access to the trails for viewing and enjoying the upcoming Amgen Tour of California Bike Race. Clearing several feet of snow (in some places up to 20 feet) was a daunting task but important for THE community. Two local contractors were instrumental in making this possible and even donated their snow removal services to clear some portions of the bike trail. A special thanks goes out to Matty Daniels of Tahoe Marine Excavating and Stuart Gensberg of Gensberg andamp; Sons for volunteering their services and working so hard for our community. This was a partnership with TCPUD in exchange for snow removal. Additional snow removal on the Tahoe City bike trails made possible by funding from TOT (transient occupancy tax) funds secured from Placer County in preparation for the Amgen events coming to North Lake Tahoe. Itandamp;#8217;s important to remember although the trails are cleared of snow the bike trails arenandamp;#8217;t officially open. Your safety is the TCPUDandamp;#8217;s number one concern and the heavy winter has taken its toll on our bike trails. Until TCPUD crews have been able to make necessary repairs to the asphalt, please use caution when on the bike trails and keep your eyes open for potholes, cracks and even ice. The bike trails officially open for the summer season on Friday, May 27.andamp;#8212; Submitted to
