Conservation party set for Homewood

Learn how to help keep Lake Tahoe clean and prevent wildland fires in Homewood at 10:30 a.m. Saturday to learn about defensible space, Best Management Practices, deck treatments, native plants and invasive weeds, and irrigation and fertilizer management.

The event is sponsored by Meeks Bay and North Tahoe fire districts, Nevada Fire Safe Council, University of California Cooperative Extension and Tahoe Resource Conservation District. The gathering will include a guided walking tour of exemplary homes, a free barbecue lunch and a live burn demonstration.

The event will be hosted at the corner of Sacramento Avenue and Fawn Lane just south of Homewood Mountain Resort beginning at 10:30 a.m., and registration is required.
