‘Conversations with History’ at Vikingsholm speaks of region’s past

TAHOE, Calif. and#8212; Conversations with History features a behind-the-scenes tour of the incomparable Vikingsholm Mansion and a sit-down intimate historical conversation with long-time park advocate and historian Helen Smith at Emerald Bay State Park, Aug. 24, 6-8 p.m.

Following the tour, guests will meet in the courtyard where wine and hors d’oeuvres will be served. Helen Smith will host an informal conversation about her experiences spending 14 summers at Vikingsholm as the guest of Lorna Knight, the owner. Smith will present a signed copy of her book “Vikingsholm,” a guide she authored, to every guest. The DVD “Vikingsholm” will be available for sale.

Reservations will be taken for 20 people per event. Guests will meet at the Visitor Center at D.L. Bliss State Park then be escorted to Vikingsholm via carpool at 5:30 p.m. for the two-hour event.

Tickets are $40 per person. Proceeds from the event provide critically needed funds for the maintenance and repair of the Vikingsholm mansion. Seats are limited, so please call the Sierra State Parks Foundation and make your reservation now at 530-525-9460.
