TAHOE/TRUCKEE, Calif. and#8212; Devon Pursel was the Sierra District Top Popcorn Seller for Den 4 in Pack 734 of the Nevada Area Council. He sold $4,124 worth of popcorn last fall. The award celebration, called the $1,500 club, was held at the Coconut Bowl in Sparks, Nev. Devon won a and#8220;backpack full of fun,and#8221; which included cub scout goodies such as a fishing pole, buck knife, Legos, flashlight, compass and more.

He also won an additional $100 gift card to Walmart, on top of the $310 he earned in gift cards and a marshmallow crossbow shooter as prizes. The 7-year old second grade Glenshire Elementary also earned a free cub scout camp from the district, as well as one from local Pack 734.

The top seller for the whole Council won a all expenses paid trip for four to Disney land for four day, who sold $18,000.

and#8220;I was really glad that I got to go to the Coconut Bowl and I had a lot of fun,and#8221; said Devon. and#8220;It was worth it to sell $4,124 of popcorn because I got to get lots of money to buy an iPod Touch, and I like cub scouts, cub scouts is the best.and#8221;

Thank you to all who bought popcorn from Devon and the rest of the boys from Pack 734. Seventy percent of the money earned from all the sales of popcorn goes directly to the Pack which is used toward achievements, awards, camps, and Cub Scout activities. The scouts sell door-to-door as well as Show and Sells in front of Safeway. The popcorn is great tasting and is worth the donation to the Cub Scouts. The selling time is September to October and the popcorn is delivered in November, just in time for the holidays for gifts or gatherings. Ryan, his brother won this award two years ago.
