Custom Learning Academy holding summer camps

TRUCKEE, Calif. and#8212;-Custom Learning Academy in Tahoe Donner is offering elementary and middle school students week-long summer camps that pair traditional outdoor activities with educational adventures. The cost is $160 per week. Children do not have to be enrolled at CLA to enjoy the fun and learning infused summer camps.

Options for Kindergarten through fifth grade students include Art and Nature, July 16-20; Dinosaurs, July 23-27; Book Club / Future Authors, July 30-Aug. 3; Brazilian Rainforests for younger students and Portuguese: Brazilian Language and Culture for older students, Aug. 6 to 10; Music and Rhythm, Aug. 13-17; and Around the World, Aug. 20-24.

Options for students entering sixth through eighth grade include Outdoors Camp with mountain biking, rafting on Donner Lake and walking the original Donner Party trail, July 16-20; Environmental Awareness Camp, July 23-27; Fantasy Baseball, a real-world context for math education including a Reno Aces day game, July 30-Aug. 3; and Wild Wild West Camp including a day trip to Virginia City, Nev., Aug. 13-17.



Camps take place 9 a.m.-3 p.m. and include a 3-5 p.m. addand#8211;on for working parents. All Custom Learning Academy camps are led by certified teachers and maintain a 10-to-1 camper to teacher ratio.
