Custom Learning Academy | New students welcome

TAHOE/TRUCKEE, Calif. and#8212; Custom Learning Academy, the only Western Association of Schools and College (WASC)-accredited, private Kindergarten through 12th grade school in the region, takes a highly personalized approach to education by offering rigorous national standards-based curriculum tailored to the individual needs of students.

CLA is accepting new students for the 2012-2013 school year that begins on Sept. 4 (the Tuesday after Labor Day). CLA studentsand#8217; academic performance combined with the schooland#8217;s extracurricular offerings and a nurturing learning environment have led to an increase in full and part time enrollment since the schooland#8217;s inception seven years ago.

CLA accepts students who are above, below and at grade level. The main filter is whether a student can follow the schooland#8217;s strict behavior contract. The flexible learning atmosphere allows students to balance athletic competitions with their education without having to sacrifice one to achieve excellence in the other. In addition, CLA offers tutoring, courses for credit and individual assessments.

Families are encouraged to begin the application process by meeting with CLAand#8217;s founder and director Lisa Crosby to learn more about student expectations and the teaching philosophy that has guided academic and social success. Annual full time tuition, including all books, school supplies four core academics plus a foreign language, art, music and physical education, is $11,000 for elementary students and $14,500 for secondary students.

Founded in 2005 by life-long educator and Truckee, resident Lisa Crosby, CLA blends traditional teaching with 21st century technology.

Located adjacent to the Trout Creek Recreational Center and The Lodge in Tahoe Donner, CLA serves 60 full-time students and nearly 100 additional students who enroll in courses for credit and tutoring. Students from Reno, Nev., North Lake Tahoe and Truckee attend CLA.
