Dining for Schools program in its 12th year

Staff reportsTahoe Truckee Excellence in Education Foundation’s Dining for Schools’ Cards are back for the 12th year.The cards cost $45 each and are valid for 50 percent off entrées at 41 participating Truckee and North Shore restaurants.Last year’s Dining for Schools Card raised more than $61,000 for the Excellence in Education.The cards are available all back to school nights, Porter’s Ski & Sport locations, Bank of the West branches, Albertsons in Tahoe City, Truckee and Kings Beach Safeway locations, Mountain Hardware (Truckee and the Village at Squaw), The Tahoe Tree Company (Tahoe City) and the Glenshire Store. Cards are valid Sept. 12 Dec. 16 and April 24 June 16, 2005, Sunday through Thursday only, holidays excluded.Some restaurants will offer the program for an extended period.The Dining for Schools Card program is one of four key fund-raisers for the Excellence in Education, according to foundation officials.Other fund-raising programs include Golfing for Schools, Skiing for Schools and the annual recognition event.The Tahoe Truckee Excellence in Education Foundation is a private, nonprofit corporation that supports quality education with the Tahoe Truckee Unified School District.Each year the foundation raises money and provides grants, resources and partnerships to benefit students, teachers and the educational community as a whole.
