TAHOE/TRUCKEE, Calif. and#8212; High Fives Non-Profit Foundation teamed up with Disabled Sports USA Far West, based out of Alpine Meadows, to help get people who have sustained a life-altering injury back out on the slopes. On June 27, High Fives donated a brand new HOC Glide bi-ski. The Glide is a state-of-the-art adaptive sit ski made by Hands on Concepts in southern California. The ski is designed for people with spinal cord injuries or other mobility impairments. The ski will be used by Disabled Sports USA Far West to provide ski lessons for High Fives athletes as well as anyone who will benefit from the ski.

The two nonprofit organizations have worked together since 2010 to help athletes return to the sport they love. The collaboration has now come full circle. High Fives recruits athletes and raises funds to assist Disabled Sports, which in turn provides instruction. This offers athletes limitless potential to regain the ability to excel in the sports about which they are passionate.

Disabled Sports USA Far West can be reached at 530-581-4161 or http://www.disabledsports.net and is located at Alpine Meadows Ski Area.

High Fives Foundation is located at 10775 Pioneer Trail in Truckee. Call 530-562-4270 or visit http://www.highfivesfoundation.org.
