Do the Pink Chase Tahoe | Women’s ski day to benefit Breast Cancer Research Foundation

Special to the Sun

TAHOE, Calif. — K2 Skis, maker of the first women’s-specific ski, is proud to continue its support for the K2 Ski Alliance program and its altruistic vision for female skiers.K2’s NorCal Alliance Team will present the 4th Annual Pink Case Tahoe Feb. 28 at Mt. Rose Ski Tahoe. Pink Chase Tahoe is an all-day event co-sponsored by the K2 Ski Corp, Bobo’s Ski & Board, GoPro, Arbonne, Wigwam and Nature’s Bakery.“I am so proud to be part of the K2 NorCal Alliance Team and to represent a company that has been a pioneer in the women’s skiing movement,” said Julie Matise. “There is something special that happens when a group of women get together on skis. This bonding of ‘chicks on sticks’ is not only super fun, but it makes my job as a ski instructor so worthwhile and rewarding!”The event is set to include morning and afternoon ski instruction sessions for all levels, the ultimate skiing flash mob and a silent auction featuring a pair of hand-painted skis by artist Caroline Zimmerman in Tuscany, Italy to raise funds for the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. Developed in effort to unite female skiers of all ages around the world, the K2 Ski Alliance promotes camaraderie, events and happenings in the female ski community. More than a decade later, the program is a primary product testing and development resource for creating innovative women’s skis and a major supporter of women’s health causes. Because of the K2 Ski Alliance, K2 Sports donates a large sum annually to the Breast Cancer Research Fund (BCRF), accumulating upward of $1 million in donations since the program’s existence. In addition, K2 supports many other breast cancer research efforts throughout the year. In recognition of the cause, a pink ribbon for breast cancer awareness adorns nearly all of the skis in the K2 Women’s Collection. The registration fee for Pink Chase Tahoe is $50 which includes a continental breakfast, lunch, morning and afternoon on-snow instructional sessions, the ultimate skiing flash mob, a goodie bag which includes the event T-shirt, and a free raffle with lots of great prizes.
