Donate blood in Tahoe City and Truckee
TAHOE/TRUCKEE, Calif. and#8212;-One hour is all it takes to save up to three lives. Give blood with BloodSource and save lives. Blood donors receive an extra treat in October, receiving a free T-shirt and free ski demo pass from Tahoe Daveand#8217;s (while supplies last). Blood is needed every day in our community for young and old. Kevin Heberlein, the father of three young children, received blood after a dirt bike accident. He said, and#8220;It doesnand#8217;t take a lot of time for donors but definitely saves lives.and#8221; While youand#8217;re there, talk to one of the volunteers from the Rotary Club of Tahoe City to exchange ideas about how we all can work together to improve our community. We look forward to spending an hour with you at the Tahoe City Community Blood Drive, Wednesday, Oct. 12, noon-6 p.m., Tahoe City Fire Station, 300 North Lake Blvd., Tahoe City. No appointment necessary, walk-ins welcome.
Donating blood is safe, easy and takes about an hour. Donors must weigh at least 110 pounds, be at least 17 years old (16 with a signed BloodSource Parental consent form at http://www.bloodsource.org, click on schools) and be generally healthy. There is no upper age limit for blood donations. Join the Be the Match marrow registry at no cost. If you are between the ages of 18 and 60-years-old, all that is needed is paperwork, a quick swab of the inside of the cheek and a good faith commitment to help someone in need.
