Downtown Truckee Wine Walk andamp; Shop donates to Tahoe Womenandamp;#8217;s Services
TRUCKEE andamp;#8212; Reaping the bounty of a successful Downtown Truckee Wine, Walk andamp; Shop, Switchback PR + Marketing will donate $4,500 to Tahoe Womenandamp;#8217;s Services and the Contractors Association of Truckee Tahoe (CATT-CP) Community Projects.Organizers reported more than 1,000 people attended the event and a survey revealed some interesting event statistics. This year 56.7 percent of the Downtown Truckee Wine, Walk andamp; Shop attendees were first-timers and 52.5 percent were out-of-town visitors. Also, 71.1 percent indicated that the event was the primary reason for their visit.Sixty-seven percent of the attendees enjoyed the many participating retailers and restaurants before, during and after the event, averaging $145 per person in expenditures. Not surprisingly merchants were pleased with the eventandamp;#8217;s outcome.andamp;#8220;I had the best gallery sales in four years,andamp;#8221; said William Vrooman, of Vrooman Woodcarvings and Wildlife Gallery.Each attendee had his or her own unique way of experiencing the Downtown Truckee Wine, Walk and Shop. Tahoe Donner homeowner Carlayne Allan reported she and her guests from Davis, Calif. particularly enjoyed the pork loin from the Dragonfly and the burger sliders at Burger Me. andamp;#8220;My friends were quite keen to fill in their passports and enter the drawing for prizes,andamp;#8221; Allan wrote. andamp;#8220;It was an excellent way to move shoppers beyond Commercial Row itself, and we all enjoyed the paths less traveled.andamp;#8221;There were many Bay Area residents who attended the event this year. Layfayette, Calif. resident Renee Marchol, an event first-timer, said as the designated driver she enjoyed the food tastings, while her husband happily got his event passport stamped at 16 different wine tasting stops. andamp;#8220;We enjoyed the novelty of trick-or-treating at each business,andamp;#8221; Marchol commented. andamp;#8220;How well organized to have the wineries represented at the back of each shop to ease the flow of shopper traffic and direct them to eye-catching finds!andamp;#8221;The Downtown Truckee Wine, Walk andamp; Shop has gained momentum in each successive year, donating its proceeds to local non-profit organizations in the past such as InnerRhythms Dance Theatre, Lake Tahoe Music Festival, Humane Society of Truckee/Tahoe, the Truckee High School band program and the Glenshire Elementary and Truckee Elementary Special Friends programs. In January, Switchback PR + Marketing plans to open up the nonprofit application process for the 7th Annual Downtown Truckee Wine, Walk andamp; Shop set for Oct. 2, 2010.
