Downtown Truckee Wine, Walk & Shop seeks merchant participants and event sponsors

Special to the Sun

TRUCKEE, Calif. – The eighth annual Downtown Truckee Wine, Walk & Shop, set for Saturday, Oct. 1, 2011, is seeking merchant participation and event sponsors. While it may seem like a lifetime away, event producer Switchback PR + Marketing, Inc. is already promoting the iconic fall favorite for inclusion in the national and regional print and online publications. “Businesses tend to put off committing to merchant participation and sponsorship, but really it behooves them to jump on board early as they will be included in the lion’s share of our event marketing efforts,” said Brinn Talbot Wellise, Switchback PR + Marketing, Inc. president and owner. Wellise also noted merchant participants and sponsors are included on the Downtown Truckee Wine, Walk & Shop web site http://www.truckeewinewalk.com. “This site address is included in all our outreach and people have already started visiting it in anticipation of the event,” Wellise added.Local businesses that sponsor the event or participate as an event venue receive excellent exposure from hundreds of wine and food savvy shoppers who converge upon downtown Truckee during the off-season. Merchant participation is limited to the first 35 venues that sign up. Fence-sitters are urged to not miss out on this annual, well-attended event. According to a recent survey, 70 percent of attendees indicated the Wine, Walk was the primary reason for their visit to downtown Truckee and 67.2 percent indicated that they purchased something during the event with an average of $145 spent. “The Wine Walk and Shop is the best event for drawing business to the downtown,” said Stefanie Olivieri, owner of Cabona’s. “It brings affluent customers who shop in our stores and dine and drink in our restaurants and bars. Of all the events throughout the year it is the one that generates significant revenue for our business. I highly recommend supporting this event.”Sponsorship opportunities are available from $500 to $2,000. Merchants can participate as a venue for a cost of $350. Businesses wishing to sponsor or participate should contact Switchback PR + Marketing, Inc. at 530-550-2252 immediately. There is no fee for restaurants that wish to participate as they are asked to provide 500-800 food samples. In addition to the incredible exposure participants and merchants will receive, businesses can also feel good about supporting a great nonprofit organization. This year a portion of the event’s proceeds will be donated to Girls on the Run – Sierras, a program that educates and prepares pre-teen girls for a lifetime of self-respect and healthy living through running. The Wine Walk & Shop steering committee identified this organization as contributing worthwhile projects and providing needed programs that make the community a better place to live. The Downtown Truckee Wine, Walk & Shop is a fundraising event produced by Switchback PR + Marketing, Inc. Tickets are $30 in advance ($40 day of the event) and currently available online at http://www.TruckeeWineWalk.com. Closer to the event date, tickets will be available at locations throughout the Truckee-Reno area. For more information call 530-550-2252.- Submitted to aedgett@sierrasun.com
