Easter Bunny brought screams of delight

I started to get involved in the community last year by decorating the Union 76 service station, owned by DeBoer Enterprises on the corner of Historic Downtown Truckee and 10041 Commercial Row, for my brother Brad DeBoer who owns it. I thought in addition to the holiday decorations all the children in the community love, we could have an Easter prize for our customers children. They would sign up to win.

My service station manager, Kraig Selph and I, found an Easter Bunny holding a basket of candy and prizes. About 100 applicants entered the drawing by filling out a certificate and putting their name and number in a box to be drawn on Saturday, April 3.

So on April 3 at approximately 3 p.m., Kraig Selph drew the winning certificate and#8212; Heather McNab was the lucky contestant. Selph stated when he called the phone number, all he heard was a lot of excited screaming in the background. McNab was so happy and excited. She had never won anything in her life!

It did all our hearts good to hear her excitement and to give her the winning Easter Bunny. I think we have started an annual Easter tradition here in Truckee.

Our congratulations to Heather McNab from DeBoer Enterprises.

We have had such a wonderful response from the community and the children since we started holiday decorations at this central Truckee service station that we want to show our appreciation to everyone who has supported us.

Don Rogers: That sieve, memory

An older friend I made when I began here in 2016 called the other day to talk about the paper. I hadn’t heard from her in awhile and, well, I’ve been here just long enough…
