Eighth Annual Downtown Truckee Wine, Walk andamp; Shop : Popular autumn event is seeking nonprofit beneficiary for 2011

TRUCKEE andamp;#8212; The Downtown Truckee Wine, Walk andamp; Shop has established itself as one of Truckeeandamp;#8217;s preeminent events. Set for Saturday, Oct. 1, 2011, noon-4 p.m., this annual favorite brings more than 1,000 locals and tourists to historic Downtown Truckee to sip wine, taste scrumptious food samples and enjoy shopping. The event, which has steadily grown since 2004, benefits the community through marketing efforts and a boost in tourism during the shoulder season and donates a portion of the proceeds to a different local nonprofit each year. Previously, $3,000-$5,000 has been donated to the chosen nonprofit partner. Past beneficiaries have included Sierra Senior Services, Tahoe Womenandamp;#8217;s Services, Truckee and Glenshire Elementary Schoolsandamp;#8217; Special Friends Program, Truckee High School music program, Truckee-Tahoe Humane Society, Lake Tahoe Music Festival and InnerRhythms Dance Theater.The Downtown Truckee Wine, Walk andamp; Shop is seeking beneficiary request applications from area nonprofit organizations, with the hope of creating a partnership to benefit the selected organization, the Downtown Truckee Wine, Walk andamp; Shop event and the Truckee community. Pick up a beneficiary request application at the Switchback Public Relations + Marketing, Inc. office or they can call and request a copy to be mailed or faxed.
