Election Letters policy reminder | SierraSun.com

Election Letters policy reminder

It’s that time of year again, and the Sierra Sun is accepting your election-related letters. Here’s a reminder of the ground rules:

– Letters with personal attacks will not be printed.

– Facts and figures quoted in letters will be checked to the extent possible; if the facts as printed in a letter are inaccurate, the statement will be printed with a correction or omitted.

– As always, letters must be 300 words or less. Due to heavy volume of submissions we get during election season, this rule will be strictly enforced in order to try and fit as many letters as we can.

– We’re a local paper, and because we only have so many pages available, we’ll be focusing on local elections. Letters dealing with national and state races will be run only on a space-available basis, and only if they are written by local residents. No form letters regarding elections will be accepted.
