TRUCKEE andamp;#8212; In its ongoing endeavor to provide both good juju and great java, Truckeeandamp;#8217;s Elijah Bleuandamp;#8217;s House of Coffee and Good Eats recently joined the Green Caf Network, a movement that promotes environmental and social responsibility.According to caf owners John and Dawn Evans the nonprofit organizationandamp;#8217;s mission aligns perfectly with that of Elijah Bleuandamp;#8217;s.andamp;#8220;For instance, we serve Blue Bottle coffee exclusively,andamp;#8221; said John Evans. andamp;#8220;San Franciscoandamp;#8217;s Blue Bottle Coffee is made using only the finest organic, pesticide-free, shade-grown beans.andamp;#8221;Importantly, the southern influenced caf also offers fresh, healthy food made from quality local and organic ingredients whenever possible.andamp;#8220;Weandamp;#8217;re committed to serving food that is for locals, by locals, from our purveyors and distributors down to our farmers and coffee growers,andamp;#8221; said Evans.The Green Caf Network is a nonprofit organization dedicated to greening the coffeehouse industry and harnessing caf culture for community and individual environmental education.Launched in the Bay Area, the Green Caf Network takes a two-tiered approach. First, the organization works with independently owned coffeehouses to actively reduce their ecological impacts and become certified green businesses. Secondly, the group assists in educating the coffeehouse staff and community members how to implement environmental responsibility in their personal lives.
