Excellence in Education receives ‘Gold Award’

TRUCKEE, Calif. – The Excellence in Education Foundation recently received the ‘State Gold Award’ from the California Teacher’s Association. This award is bestowed annually upon people or organizations whose leadership, acts and support have proven these persons or organizations are true friends of public education, educators or students and deserve statewide recognition.

“This is a tremendous honor for our Foundation,” said Laura Abbey Brown, executive director of the Foundation. “Our mission is to support the teachers and students in our school district and it is always nice to be reassured that our efforts are appreciated.”

The Excellence in Education was nominated for this prestigious award by members of the local Tahoe Truckee Education Association (TTEA).

“As Co-Presidents of TTEA, Ed Hilton and I are excited to continue building collaborative partnerships between our union and community organizations like the Excellence in Education Foundation,” explained Jon Halvorsen. “Excellence in Education is a tremendous partner with our teachers and has helped so many of us expand our curriculum in exciting ways to reach our students through the equipment, materials, and training the grants they provide and allow teachers to purchase.”
