Beginning March 23, a new centering prayer meditation group will meet weekly on Fridays, 12:15-1 p.m. at For Goodness Sake in Truckee. Centering prayer is a Christian spiritual practice that seeks and#8220;heartfullnessand#8221; along with mindfulness. With roots in the ancient Christian contemplative tradition, centering prayer moves us towards emptying, silence in our deepest self, and opening to the divine presence. It can be transformative and healing when practiced over time.

Participants will learn the principals of centering prayer and then practice the spiritual discipline as a group. An online sharing circle for ongoing reflection, encouragement and support will also be available to participants. The group will also explore wisdom concerning centering prayer by noted contemplatives like Cynthia Bourgeault, Thomas Merton and Thomas Keating. No experience with centering prayer is necessary and all are welcome.
