Faith Factor: The absolute truth

TAHOE/TRUCKEE and#8212; Someone was talking to me today about absolute truth. She said she took an ethics class at Sierra College last semester and they discussed absolute truths. The majority of her class said there are no such things as absolute truths. On wisegeek.com, the author says: and#8220;an absolute truth, sometimes called a universal truth, is an unalterable and permanent fact.and#8221; Being completely honest with you and myself: I am not an intelligent person, I do not possess any type of mental genius.

However, I can tell you one thing for certain: There are absolute truths.

Absolute Truth One: You are a sinner. There is absolutely no way of going around it. and#8220;For all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God,and#8221; (Romans 3:23). The only way you could get to heaven is by being perfect, sinless, spotless. But you failed. Quite miserably, I might add. Because of your epic failure, you had to die and#8212; be separated from God forever and ever in the only place that He does not dwell: Hell. God, however, desires all to come to know Him as Lord (1 Timothy 2:4). So He made a plan to send His Son to the earth and die so you would not have to die and without Him.

This leads me to Absolute Truth two. It has two parts: 1. and#8220;If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved,and#8221; (Romans 10:9) and 2) and#8220;Faith without works is dead,and#8221; (James 2:20). Jesus says all we need to do is believe in Him and we are saved, but the Bible is filled with verses from Matthew to Revelation speaking of how we must and#8220;work out our salvation,and#8221; (Phillipians 2:12).

Yes, the Good News is it just takes belief, but out of our belief comes love and out of our love comes obedience. Several times, the apostle John writes if we love God we will keep His commandments (John 14:15, 15:10; 1 John 5:2,3). If we believe in His forgiveness, grace and love and then love Jesus with all our hearts, souls, minds and strength, and obey His commandments (love one another and love Himand#8212; pretty simple), then we will experience the third truth.

Absolute Truth three: If you have a personal relationship with your Creator, you will spend eternity with Him. and#8220;In My [Jesusand#8217;] Fatherand#8217;s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also,and#8221; (John 14:3-4).

What hope lies in our future! In our eternity! Revelation 21:4 says when we get to heaven: and#8220;God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.and#8221; What an eternity we have to look foreword to, no? What an inheritance we so ungratefully and undeservedly have been given! Oh, Jesus, thank you. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

I canand#8217;t imagine living in a world without these three absolute truths. But there are people everywhere around you and#8212; at home, at work, at school, at the mall, at the parties you attend and#8212; who are walking corpses and do not know the truth of Godand#8217;s sacrifice and love.

Share these three with all who you know! For Jesus alone is the Way. He alone is the Truth. He alone is Life. May you seek the Truth today.
