Family Resource Center announces winter classes

TRUCKEE, Calif. – The Family Resource Center of Truckee was formed in 2001 as place where families looking to improve their lives could find a variety of resources. The mission of the agency is to “promote social and economic success in our community by providing education, mobilizing resources and advocating for change. The FRCoT strives to support and assist families and individuals to overcome various challenges,” according to http://www.truckeefrc.org.

Classes include teen management, baby massage and more. Find following what’s in store this winter.

Feb. 8, Baby and Me. Facilitator: Cindy Bansen, RN, IBCLC. Six weekly sessions for you and your infant including: organized activities, music, speakers, health and child development education and informal discussions weekly.



March 1, Dr. Seuss’s Birthday at Truckee Elementary, 5-7 p.m.

March 15, Baby Massage. Facilitator: Linda MacKenzie Parks, RN, BCB, CIM4 Weekly sessions for you and your infant. Baby massage provides great benefits for parents and infants. It promotes health, relaxation, bonding, love, respect and communication between new parents and their little ones.



March 16, Got Baby/Toddler? Want Sleep? Facilitator: Karen (Pollak) Schwarzbach, CSC. Learn what is getting between your child and a good night’s rest. Karen will present her innovative “babiestosleep system” and the top 10 foundation elements necessary for productive and restorative sleep. Karen has helped hundreds of parents across the country (including many parents in the Truckee-Tahoe area) help their babies and toddlers develop good sleep habits. Take your questions and let Karen help you help your child sleep.

Ongoing classes

The Family Room with Mia and Dana: Monday, Tuesday and Friday at Truckee Elementary. Guided activities in Spanish and English for toddlers and parents, featuring a lending library and fostering literacy and interactive play.

Toddler Gym Time with Emily: Drop-in classes on Thursdays in the Big Gym for children ages 1-3 and their parents at TTUSD District Office Thursdays, 10-11:30 a.m. Make friends, and get those big muscles jumping, running, riding and sliding with lots of developmental equipment, including riding and pushing toys, balls of all sizes, slides, wagons, toddler trampoline and much more.
