Family Winter Welcome Party, River Ranch to host holiday concert and Toys for Tots fundraiser

Special to the Sun

TAHOE CITY, Calif. – The River Ranch Restaurant and Lodge will be hosting the 4th Annual Family Winter Welcome / Toys for Tots party on Wednesday, Dec. 12.

This community event is an evening of casual fun, food and music for all. The North Tahoe High School Jazz Band, led by Dean Norby, will perform a free concert with traditional holiday music starting at 6:30 p.m. There will be free s’mores on the patio for kids and holiday cookies for everyone. The River Ranch’s happy hour will run until 6:30 p.m., with the cafe menu half price as well as $3 drink specials. Chef Julia will offer a discounted dinner special that evening in addition to the regular dinner menu.

There will be a collection of new, unwrapped toys for the US Marine Corps Reserve’s Toys for Tots program. Elaine Durazo is the community organizer authorized to conduct the Toys for Tots campaign in communities without a local Marine Reserve Unit. Durazo organizes the program for the Tahoe Truckee area that covers three counties with portions of Placer, Nevada and El Dorado. While Elaine’s role is to coordinate and manage the program she emphasizes, “the ultimate success of the program depends on support of the local communities and generosity of the people who donate toys and monetary donations.”

The River Ranch is located at the corner of Highway 89 and Alpine Meadows Road. Call 530-583-4264 for more information.
