Float some ducks, win some bucks at the Truckee Duckee Derbee

TAHOE/TRUCKEE, Calif. and#8212; Will Mark Monrean, the “Luckiest Man in Tahoe,” be top dog again at a 2012 Truckee Duckee Derbee? Find out The and#8220;most unpredictable two minutes in Tahoe,and#8221; the Ninth Annual Truckee Duckee Derbee is set for June 10 at the River Ranch Lodge. The rubber duck race is a benefit for the Humane Society of Truckee-Tahoe and the festivities include live music on the outdoor patio, a barbecue, drink and food specials, a fabulous raffle, the hilarious and#8220;Dogz in Dudz,and#8221; a K-9 costume contest, and in true derby tradition, the new and#8220;Cool Catz in Hatzand#8221; contest open to all. Festivities run from 1-5 p.m.

The pre-race party and registration starts at 1 p.m., and#8220;Dogz in Dudzand#8221; at 2 p.m., the Catz in Hatz at 2:30 p.m. and the Derbee commences immediately after. Cost to sponsor a duck is $10 and the top three ducks win cash. Payout depends on the size of the pot. There is no cost to enter the costume or hat contest. Prizes will be awarded to the most stylish and creative canines and hats as determined by a panel of celebrity judges. A Giant mountain bike will be the grand prize in the raffle.
