LEED is an internationally recognized green building certification system developed by the U.S. Green Building Council. A LEED certification verifies a building or home was designed and built using strategies aimed at improving performance regarding ecological concerns that matter most: Energy savings, water efficiency, CO2 emissions reduction, improved indoor environmental quality and stewardship of resources and sensitivity to their impacts. While many homes have been upgraded and renovated to incorporate substantial green features, becoming a LEED-certified home begins with the foundation. The Energy star-rated project passed its first two LEED inspections in and is on track to receive a LEED silver certification.
