INCLINE VILLAGE, Nev. – North Lake Tahoe’s first Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) registered home is well underway in Incline Village. The project is spearheaded by Jeff Miller, president of Advance Design and Construction and K.J. Miller of Chase International, who is listing the home for sale. The event is free and open to the public.Professional contractors and suppliers will be on hand to answer questions and give demonstrations of the latest green technologies. Displays will include home-energy monitoring and home automation; LED lighting; high-efficiency furnaces and steam humidifiers; energy-complete insulation systems; Energy Star-rated doors, windows and flooring; low/no VOC paints and stains; Solaris roofing and on-demand hot water systems. “This is a rare opportunity for the public to see and learn about green technologies firsthand from the professionals while the home is under construction,” said K.J. Miller.Guests may take a LEED-registered home treasure hunt and win prizes. Those who walk or ride their bike earn a free copy of Your House & Lifestyle. LEED is an internationally recognized green building certification system developed by the U.S. Green Building Council. A LEED certification verifies a building or home was designed and built using strategies aimed at improving performance regarding ecological concerns that matter most: Energy savings, water efficiency, CO2 emissions reduction, improved indoor environmental quality and stewardship of resources and sensitivity to their impacts. While many homes have been upgraded and renovated to incorporate substantial green features, becoming a LEED-certified home begins with the foundation. The Energy star-rated project passed its first two LEED inspections in and is on track to receive a LEED silver certification.
