Friday Night Live: Drug-free fun for teens

Special to the Sun

TRUCKEE, Calif. andamp;#8212; Friday Night Live: Natural High is a drug and alcohol free club on the Truckee High School campus. Its goal is two-fold: to promote and provide drug-free events for Truckee High School teens on Friday nights and to educate youth and the community on being drug and alcohol free through committed pledge campaigns. Truckee High School and the Truckee Donner Recreation andamp; Park District have partnered to start a brand new THS Teen Center at the Community Arts Center. The Teen Center provides a place for high school teens to andamp;#8220;hang outandamp;#8221; and play pool, foosball, air hockey, listen to music and talk. The desired result is teens will enjoy having a place to be with each other where substance abuse is not part of the scene. For more information or volunteer opportunities, please call Rachel Falk, FNL advisor at 530-582-2601, ext. 3157. Friday Night Live: Natural High will hold an ice skating event Friday, Dec. 2, 7-9 p.m. at Truckee Regional Park with DJ Colors playing your favorite songs with an incredible light show. Snacks for sale for $1 and pizza for $2, $5 entrance fee includes skate rentals. If you would like to put in your song requests for the night, please write your song down on the clipboard in the SAC.
