TAHOE CITY and#8212; Frieda Klein, a well-known Tahoe City artist, has just completed her first novel, and#8220;Sapphire Chameleon,and#8221; about a womanand#8217;s journey toward awakening and self-actualization.

Set in San Francisco from the early 1960s to 80s, Juliaand#8217;s personal adventure unfolds.

Julia grew up in an era that lulled her into believing if she finds her Prince Charming, gets married, of course, promising to love, honor and obey, she will be rewarded with living happily ever after. Following this dream, she becomes a chameleon, who blends in to keep her sanity. As the years pass she defers to others instead of trusting her own feelings, which makes her confused and disappointed.

Unsuspecting circumstances and experiences compel Julia to travel many roads and face many detours. Ultimately, she must make choices and decisions that lead her to believe in herself. As she is confronted with and conquers difficult situations, she is enlightened, slowly empowered and realizes life is her teacher. There is no formula for living happily ever after.

Happiness after all is unpredictable, fleeting and can not be packaged.

Frieda Klein will introduce her novel and#8220;Sapphire Chameleonand#8221; at an Open House Book Signing Party Saturday, Oct. 15, 2-6 p.m., 140 Sierra Terrace Road, Tahoe City, one block east of Safeway next to the campground.
