Funk it up tonight | Music on the Beach, free concert series in Kings Beach continues

KINGS BEACH, Calif. andamp;#8212; The first Music on the Beach free concert in Kings Beach took place on Friday, July 6 with the Blues Monsters and was a huge success. The Blues Monsters pulled out all the stops with favorite songs and new material to the delight a record number of concert goers, an estimated 1,200 people. The Blues Monsters put on a great show and played for 2.5 hours. andamp;#8220;The Blues Monsters are a class act. We are grateful to feature such a talented band for our first concert of the series,andamp;#8221; said Joy Doyle, executive director of the North Tahoe Business Association, which hosts Music on the Beach. andamp;#8220;The Blues Monstersandamp;#8217; music had many on their feet dancing and everyone enjoyed the mild weather. Some were even dancing on their SUPs (stand up paddle boards) in the lake! The Blues Monsters show set the bar for the rest of the Music on the Beach free concert series to take place every Friday evening in July and August, 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the Kings Beach State Recreation Area.andamp;#8221;Funky Miracle will bring the audience to their feet with their funky beats on July 27.Five additional Music on the Beach concerts continue each Friday evening in August including an upbeat Americana trio the McCoy Tyler Band, One Track Mind playing roots rockandamp;#8217; n roll with a twist, Zanzibar from the SF Bay Area performing afro funk Latin groove music, followed by Downbeat featuring gritty, booty-shakinandamp;#8217; funk and soul and the Tyler Matthew Smith band will play an inspiring blend of folk, soul and world music to close out the series on Aug. 31.While enjoying great, free, live music performances concert attendees will also have the opportunity to purchase Sierra Nevada Pale Ale, Sierra Nevada Summer Ale, wine and Music on the Beach T-shirts and Kings Beach souvenirs at the concerts.
