Get your oink on at the first annual Truckee RibFest to benefit Relay for Life

TRUCKEE, Calif. and#8212; With the First Annual Truckee Ribfest just days away, area chefs are busy fine-tuning their lip-smacking rib recipes, as a few lucky judges daydream about their enviable and#8220;joband#8221; on Fatherand#8217;s Day, Sunday, June 20, from noon and#8211; 4 p.m. at Citizens Bank Plaza.

Event officials announced that Anton and#8220;Toniand#8221; Standteiner will be the final judge for the Ribfest this Sunday. Nominated by his son Josef, age six, and daughter Florian, age three, Anton and#8220;Toniand#8221; Standteiner has been chosen to judge this mouth-watering event along with several foodie industry professionals.

Battling it out in this good-natured culinary competition are Smokeyand#8217;s Kitchen, Jakeand#8217;s on the Lake, Resort at Squaw Creek, JAX At The Tracks, Farmhouse Creations, Red Truck and FiftyFifty Brewing Company. The chefsand#8217; rib creations are influenced by the traditional barbecue meccas of the United States, as well as their own personal foodie flairs.



and#8220;Naturally, due to the competitive spirit of the event, each participant is likely to closely guard their rib-cooking secrets,and#8221; says Brinn Wellise of Switchback PR + Marketing, which is producing the event. and#8220;Suffice it to say, visitors and locals alike will not want to miss this mouth-watering event which includes entertainment for the entire family.and#8221; Festivities also include a beer garden, bounce house and free live music by The Donner Party Picnic and the Deckheads. In between sets, InnerRythms Dance Studio dancers will perform for the crowd.

Just a few fortunate folks were tapped for the eventand#8217;s judging panel. With a pile of paper napkins at the ready, Chaco Mohler, publisher of Tahoe Quarterly, Jaqueline and#8220;Jaciand#8221; Goodman, publisher of Edible Reno Tahoe and Charlie Good, publisher of The Weekly, will pronounce their verdict.



Tickets are $20 and include three sample plates from the restaurants or caterers of oneand#8217;s choice. Tickets are available at Citizens Bank, Sears Hometown Store, the Truckee Donner Chamber of Commerce and Switchback PR. Tickets are also available at http://www.truckeeribfest.com and include a complimentary Truckee Ribfest beer mug ($2 service charge applied to online ticket sales).

Relay For Life of Truckee, sponsored by The American Cancer Society, will be the eventand#8217;s first nonprofit beneficiary. This yearand#8217;s Relay For Life Truckee event is set for July 17-18.
