With new information about early childhood development and education flowing constantly through classrooms and homes, it can be difficult for parents and child care providers to find clear and accurate information.

That is the reason that Truckee School Readiness and First Five Nevada County are joining efforts to present this year’s Child Development Conference.

“We try and find the latest issues in child development for parents and providers, and bring in stuff that you might have read about but would like to talk to an expert about,” said Julie Tester, a mother of two and owner of Truckee Loving Care daycare, who is on the event’s planning committee.

The half-day conference will host 16 presenters, including teachers, nutritionists, pediatricians and counselors who will speak on topics such as kindergarten readiness, behavior and parent-child relationships.

“One of the unique things about the conference is that it is geared toward both parents and care providers with a focus on prenatal through five-years,” said coordinator Ruth Hall. “It’s a way of getting everyone on the same page.”
